Seen and Heard
1. Seen and Heard Project
You are being invited to take part in Seen and Heard, a project run with St. Francis’ Junior School Newton Aycliffe, facilitated by Investing in Children and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Seen and Heard aims to empower children and young people living in County Durham to write their local history on their own terms, putting a spotlight on children and young people in the past. The project involves children and young people researching children and young people in County Durham’s history and then creatively sharing their findings with the public in a multitude of ways.
The children at St Francis school would like to discover what it was like to be a child through Newton Aycliffe’s past so are interviewing people who grew up in Aycliffe about their childhood memories. The children have written all the interview questions themselves. The children would like to share the results of their research as part of Newton Aycliffe’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
Do you have any photos or objects from your childhood you would like to share with us? If you do, please send these into school or a copy to the school email address, stfrancis@durhamlearning.net
