In the run-up to the 2021 Scottish Parliamentary Election, National Autistic Society Scotland and Scottish Autism (alongside ENABLE Scotland) campaigned for the creation of a Commissioner to promote and protect the rights of autistic people, people with a learning disability, and their families.
The campaign was successful and the Scottish Government has committed to introducing legislation that will include a Commissioner.
It is currently being referred to as the (proposed) 'Learning Disability, Autism, and Neurodiversity Bill' - this name may change in the future as the Bill develops.
We want to make sure that any Commissioner makes a difference. We are, therefore, looking to gather the views of autistic people, families, and professionals in order to influence the Scottish Government, MSPs, and others. This will help us to shape the role and powers of any Commissioner.
We will use the information that we gather to produce a report to ensure that your views are heard loud & clear.
We will keep any personal information you provide to us safe & secure, and not share it with anyone. Once this process has ended, we will destroy your data.
This short survey is for people living in Scotland.
