Big Day Out Summer Holiday 2023

Together Liverpool in conjunction with Meals and More is delighted to be able to offer two Big Day Out grants of up to £500 for Network of Kindness members over the summer holidays (money must be spent by 1st September 2023).

This grant is to enable churches to provide a day out for at least 25 children and young people. Applicants can choose what to do but we would encourage them to offer an opportunity for participants to experience something new, have some fun and to create some happy memories.

We are looking to support Big Day Out activities from Network of Kindness members across the Diocese of Liverpool which are:
  1. Church-led; we encourage churches to involve other community partners, such as local schools, faith groups, voluntary organisations or other churches
  2. Enable your church to strengthen connections with families, children and/or young people in your community, beyond your usual church family
  3. Provide a minimum of 25 children and young people with a fun, exciting day out.
Big Day Out  activities should be open and welcoming for people from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and faiths in your community.

Applicants must be a Network of Kindness member - find out how to join here

We will be looking to support two applications that fulfil the criteria above and we anticipate that it will not be possible to support every application.

If the number of applications exceeds our available funding pot, priority will be given to new activities (activities that haven't been run by the church before), activities that reflect good value for money, and applications that work in partnership with others, including schools or community organisations - other churches operating within the Diocese of Liverpool area are very welcome to apply.

All applications must be submitted using this form by 5pm Sunday 9th July. All churches that are successful will need to complete a risk assessment, submit a copy of their safeguarding policy, and provide basic monitoring data after the event.

This monitorring includes:
  • Pictures from the event
  • Two paragraphs outlining the activity and a quote from someone who took part
We may publish your write-up of the event online.

Together Liverpool may also write a short story about your Big Day Out activity, which will be shared as part of our Network of Kindness storytelling project on our website, and with our funders.

Churches will be notified by the 14th July on the outcome of their application. The decision of the Together Liverpool Big Day Out committee will be final.
