Draft Tourism Strategy Dawlish Town Council
Consultation on the Draft Tourism Strategy of Dawlish Town Council
During 2020 Dawlish Town Council recognised a coherent tourism strategy needed to be developed to provide a guiding framework for both the Town Council and the stakeholders of the Parish, to be drawn on to develop and manage its visitor and tourism activities. The strategy builds on the current tourism strengths of the Parish and recognises the significant role tourism plays in the local economy. It also recognises the recent closure of the Tourism Information Centre and looks for what other opportunities are available for engaging with visitors.
A Tourism Strategy Working Group (TSWG) was formed by the Town Council in late 2020.
Its objectives included:
• To develop a comprehensive long-term tourism strategy for Dawlish for approval by Town Council; and
• To make recommendations to the Town Council on how to develop Dawlish into a “Destination Brand”.
The draft Tourism Strategy is now available for public consultation at: https://www.dawlish.gov.uk/tourism-strategy-consultation/
Printed copies of the strategy and the survey are available by calling Dawlish Town Council on: 01626 863388 to arrange collection or at Dawlish Library.
Comments are now invited from the public and other interested organisations. Responses will be collated and reviewed for possible inclusion in the final draft to be submitted to the full Council in May 2021. The survey should take no more than twenty minutes depending on the length of answers.
The deadline for responses is Saturday 25th April 2021 at 5pm.
