The Office of The Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Derbyshire, invites you to participate in this Community Survey on 'Policing, Recruitment, Retention and Relations'. The survey will take approximately thirty-five minutes of your time and is completely confidential. Your participation will help the Police and Crime Commissioner to have a clearer picture of recruitment and retention issues and provide insight into tensions/issues impacting Police - Community Relations in Derby and Derbyshire.
The survey is designed for the OPCC to gather opinions and experiences from members of the community. The survey assesses four key components
  • Background: General Attitudes Towards Crime and Policing
  • Policing, Community Contact and Outcomes
  • Policing, Community Experiences and Perceptions
  • Community Recruitment and Retention 
Please answer the questions thinking only about your experiences of Derbyshire Constabulary indicating your response to each question by selecting the appropriate answer based on your feelings, opinions, and experiences. Although we encourage you to answer as many questions as possible, you may skip any survey question you do not feel comfortable responding to or are unsure about by selecting 'I prefer not to answer this question’. This is not a test, and there are no right or wrong answers only YOUR answers so please answer each question as forthrightly as you can.

The results will be used by the OPCC to enhance policing recruitment and retention and contribute to thought and action around addressing and improving current police-community relations. Your answers are completely confidential and your identity will not be known.
This survey is voluntary, confidential and your individual responses will not be attributed to you personally
Please note that the survey has a save and continue facility which allows you to save your current responses and come back to where you left off later on.
Unless we advise otherwise, this survey will has been extended and will now close at 5pm on May 17th  2021.

Explaining some key terms used in the survey:
Ethnically/Racially Minoritised
is being used instead of the term Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) OR Black and Minority Ethnic (BME).
The terms Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire Police are used interchangeably to refer to all Police officers in Derby and Derbyshire.
