ORGANISATIONAL HEALTH CHECK - Expression of Interest
Created by the Museum Development England (MDE), the Organisational Health Check is a self-assessment tool to help museums benchmark activity, identify what they are doing well, and define areas that need improvement.
We are looking to recruit 6 museums from the southeast of England to complete the Organisational Health Check with us in 2023/24.
What’s involved?
Participating museums are asked to complete an online self-assessment questionnaire. We recommend you form a sub-team consisting of three members (one senior staff/trustee; one Front-of-House staff/volunteer; one other staff/volunteer). Your local Museum Development Officer will facilitate the conversation and your sub-team will agree one set of scores to submit in the online survey. The link to the online survey is provided in the Offer Letter should you be selected as one of the participants this year.
The Museum Development Officer will then send you a bespoke Advisory Report based on your answers identifying key areas of development and signposting to resources and opportunities for support. You can then apply for a £2000 grant* from South East Museum Development to address a priority development area identified in the Advisory Report.
*
While any museum can take part in the OHC self-assessment, only those meeting our funding eligibility criteria can apply for the OHC grant (i.e., accredited (fully, provisionally, working towards) museums in the southeast region that are non-national and non-NPO (national portfolio organisations).
How to apply
To register your interest in taking part in the Organisational Health Check scheme, please contact your local
Museum Development Officer and complete this Expression of Interest form. We will assess applications on a rolling basis from and will notify you within three weeks of submission.
Deadline
We encourage you to submit your Expression of Interest as soon as possible (ideally before 1 September 2023), so that there is sufficient time to complete the programme within this financial year. We will assess applications within three weeks of submission.
If you are selected to take part in the programme, you will be sent an Offer Letter with links to the online survey portal. The deadline to submit your final scores into the online survey portal is 31 October 2023. This must only be done after a group discussion, facilitated by one of our Museum Development Officers, has taken place. Once you receive your Advisory Report, you have until 1 December 2023 to submit a grant application for up to £2000 to action change. Please see the
Grants section of our website for more information.
