Please complete this survey. It is an important part of the application process. 

If possible, we ask that you complete this survey with your parent or carer – there are questions here which you may not fully know how to answer, but your parent or carer will. 

We want the information you give us to be as accurate as possible, so that we can provide you with the best transition and support at BHASVIC. If you have difficulties, or need support answering any of the questions, please e-mail studentservices@bhasvic.ac.uk and mark the e-mail New Student Support 2022. A member of our Student Support team will then contact you to help.

The intention behind these questions is to help us to identify which support services, opportunities and activities you may eligible for, or benefit from, during your time at BHASVIC. We aim to provide a learning environment that is inclusive to all members of our college community.

You may have already answered some of these questions during application or interview; however, please answer them again here as individual circumstances can change and we are keen to ensure our information is always as accurate as possible.

DATA PROTECTION STATEMENT

We take all reasonable measures to protect the data we hold on you. You will see that each section of this survey explains why we are asking the questions, and what your responses will be used for.

The information collected in this survey will be stored, accessed and processed by the Student Support Team. We may also share your information with other staff/departments within the college to ensure that you are made aware of any relevant information prior to starting with us in September 2021 e.g. the socio-economic questions help us identify students who may be eligible for a college bursary. 

In addition to the above, we will ask for your consent to share your information with our local, trusted partner organisations: Sussex Learning Network, the University of Brighton, the University of Sussex, IntoUniversity, Get Career Confident. We work with these partners to provide a comprehensive package of Careers Information, Advice & Guidance which supports all students to make informed decisions regarding their progression and career pathway. Students who give consent may be able to access additional:
 
  • One-to-one careers appointments with qualified, experienced advisers
  • Support with study skills and revision techniques
  • Access to corporate mentors and employer visits
  • University campus tours
  • Subject specific taster days, masterclasses, seminars, conferences and intensive programmes
  • One-to-one support with personal statements and application forms
  • Shadowing opportunities with current university students
  • University Summer Schools
  • Access to financial support schemes e.g. the Helena Kennedy Awards
  • Events for parents and carers

We have a long-standing and trusted relationship with all of our partners and robust data sharing processes in place to protect your information. If you have any questions about how we collect, store, process and share your information, please email studentservices@bhasvic.ac.uk

If you do not complete your enrolment with us in August/September 2022 we will delete the data provided in this survey.
