8. AGM Motions - Motion to change Rule 25.3
Please refer to the AGM Pack for details of the proposed change to Rule 25.3
Current Rule
25.3. No person who is suspended, who has been expelled or has resigned under rule 18.1 shall be admitted as a visitor. The Committee may, as it sees fit, on receipt of a written request from that person to do so, agree to reinstate visitation rights.
Recommended Change
25.3. No person whose application for membership has been refused, is suspended, who has been expelled or has resigned under rule 18.1 shall be admitted as a visitor. The Committee may, on receipt of a written request from that person agree to reinstate visitation rights as they see fit.
Rationale
Under the current rule any person who has been refused membership, is under suspension, has been expelled, or has resigned under rule 18.1 may continue to visit the club and play the course unless the committee has specifically banned them, which they can only due under extraordinary circumstances.
The new rule puts the onus firmly on the person who has been banned to request it be lifted and allows the committee to debate and consider that request. Which is a more appropriate approach.
The motion is proposed, seconded and supported by the Management Committee.
