We’re committed to making active travel a more natural and convenient choice for our residents. These proposed improvements were shaped by earlier input into the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP), which sets out our walking and cycling networks to be developed.
The Council has been progressing designs and we are now asking for your comments on the proposals.
Here’s what’s being proposed:
- a two way cycle track on the west side of Overpool Road, together with using the residential streets, will make a continuous cycling route
- parking areas and new hedge planting along the route
- new signalised crossings:
- south of the railway bridge to provide safer access to Overpool Rail Station
- new signalised crossings at the junction with Princes Road
- connecting Waverton Road with Brooklyn Drive supporting a safer route to Acorns Primary and Nursery School
- north of the roundabout at Tarporley Road to help people walk to the shops
