Prize will be presented to the team finishing fastest.
In addition, there will be one award presented to the team judged in the opinion of the organisers to have the best decorated/ best looking kart
Soapbox karts must meet the Construction and Safety Guidelines below, before being allowed to take part.
Participants must report to the start area by 15:00
By registering, participants, or the parents or guardians of participants who are children, have agreed to take part at their own risk.
Rules:
1. For insurance reasons, the minimum age for a driver/passenger is 10 years old. No one under 10 may take part in the event.
2. When racing, drivers and passengers must as a minimum wear suitable footwear and a helmet with chin strap. NO CRASH HELMET = NO RACING. Clothing covering legs and arms is recommended.
3. Any crew members deemed to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be withdrawn from the competition.
4. Competitors must follow the precise instruction of the race marshals at all times.
5. Soapbox karts are powered by gravity only — no engines, motors or pedalling!
Safety and Construction Guidelines
1. The kart must have steering and a braking system capable of slowing the kart to a safe stop.
2. Karts must be home-made for the competition. The basic structure / chassis may be donated from another vehicle, e.g. go-cart, but must be decorated / adapted for the event.
3. A maximum of 2 from the crew may occupy the kart (i.e. as drivers).
4. Drivers must be able to get in and out of the kart easily and operate steering and braking in a normal seated position.
5. There shall be no exposed sharp edges or points on the kart.
6. Make certain that the intended drivers can safely operate the kart.
