Family Court Statistics Quarterly - Consultation 2020

1. Consultation on the publication of Family Court Statistics Quarterly

0%
The Family Court Statistics Quarterly (FCSQ) publication presents key statistics on activity in the family court system in England and Wales. These statistics are a leading indicator of the workload and timeliness of a range of matters dealt with by the family courts, including public and private law, matrimonial matters (particularly divorce), domestic violence, adoption, forced marriage and female genital mutilation protection orders. The publication also includes time series including data from the Office of the Public Guardian, the Court of Protection (regarding cases under the Mental Capacity Act) and the Probate Service.

The statistical release is published quarterly and includes:

   - The main bulletin, which provides key figures on all topic areas with graphs, commentary and context on these court processes.
   - A set of tables which give more detailed figures and full time-series for each area
   - A more detailed set of underlying data, provided in the form of csv (comma separated variables) files to facilitate detailed
    analysis and re-use of the data. Guidance on how to use this underlying data is also provided alongside it.
   - A data visualisation tool is published via Tableau which allows users to interrogate and visualise the data.
   - There is also an accompanying guide, which aims to provide information on the family court system as well as information data      sources, quality and dissemination, with a separate Quality Statement provided.

We want to ensure these outputs are understood and valued by all users. We are therefore undertaking this consultation:
   - to learn more about how stakeholders use our statistics;
   - to help us prioritise improvements;
   - to inform specific developments regarding divorce timeliness and public and private law case information

You are invited to complete this 10 minute online survey, by 17th December:
