Confidentiality and data protection

The Department  for Transport (DfT) is carrying out the Bus Open Data readiness assessment for local authorities until 30 November 2019. This assessment and the processing of personal data that it entails is necessary for the exercise of our functions as a government department. If your answers contain any information that allows you to be identified, DfT will, under data protection law, be the controller for this information.

Your response will be used to determine what support needs to be offered to bus operators during 2020, the transitional period, when the new bus open data requirements will be introduced. 

As part of this survey we’re asking:
  • your name and email for the purpose of asking follow up questions.
  • your organisation's name for identification
  • your individual job title to understand your role and details about the work you carry out to understand your role in data handling
You do not have to give us this personal information.

Your information will be kept on a secure IT system within the DfT and destroyed within 12 months after the assessment survey has been completed. Any information provided through the online questionnaire will be moved to our internal systems within 2 months of the consultation end date.
