Please Read Carefully Before Continuing with your Application

Welcome to your application to become a Student Ambassador for the International Office. Please read the following text carefully before continuing with your application.

The application should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and you can save and come back to it as many times as you need.

Information
The International Office requires current students to support on various events, providing their experience as an International student at The University of Manchester. Ambassadors will support on panel discussions held for potential students from their native country, amongst other roles in which they will represent the University, such as video calls with prospective students. For this reason, we require confident English language skills but may also present opportunities in which you will speak in your native language.

Your experience is especially valuable to potential students, as you were in their position not so long ago! In many cases you will be the first member of the University they have heard speak. This is your chance to be the friendly face (or voice) of Manchester for these students. The work is quite flexible - you can sign up for the events and shifts that fit your schedule, as and when they become available.

Who can apply?
All University of Manchester current international (non-UK) students of all levels can apply. That includes undergraduate (bachelor's), postgraduate taught (master's) and postgraduate research (PhD) students.

NOTE:
If you have dual citizenship of the UK and another country, and have experience of living in that country and/or speak its language(s) fluently, then you are still eligible to apply.

How do I apply?
All applicants are required to complete this form which will then be scored by the International Team. Applicants who are successful will be invited to a briefing session before their first event.

Closing date
This application form will close on 8th March 2021.
Successful candidates will receive an email by 15th March 2021. Please make a note to check your emails during this period.

Pay
The standard rate of pay is currently £9.50 an hour plus an allowance for holiday pay.

Tier 4 Students
Students who are enrolled at the University on a Tier 4 visa MUST comply with the restrictions to term time work that are stated in their visas. This means that you must alert staff to any potential conflict with work that you already undertake either elsewhere in the University or externally.

If you have enquiries about the role, please contact James Rawlinson:
