Male School Teacher Shortage Survey | Nick Fletcher MP

1. Male School Teacher Shortage Survey

0%
Dear Teacher,

Thank you for considering taking part in this survey.

As a Member of Parliament who wants the very best education opportunities for everyone, I want to look at issues within our education system that need to be addressed. Hence why I decided to become a member of the House of Commons' Education Select Committee.

At the moment, I am particularly interested in finding out from teachers why they believe there are so few male teachers in our schools. There seems to be a lack of definitive research, especially based on asking the opinions of teachers themselves.

Currently, men make up 35% of teachers in secondary schools, 14% in primary and nursery schools, 25% in special/PRU schools, and, just 2% in early years.

In addition, the Education Select Committee has an inquiry on teacher recruitment, training and, retention (please feel free to submit evidence): https://bit.ly/3m8uXq0

If you could take part in this short anonymous survey, I would be very grateful. It will help my research in this area and also help my work as a member of the Select Committee.

Thank you for any time that you can spare to take part.

Yours ever,

Nick Fletcher MP (Don Valley)
